2 die after being buried under stones at a quarry in Wuyan

PAMPORE: Two labourers were buried to death while working at a quarry in Wuyan village of Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening.
A senior police officer told Kashmir Reader that two labourers, who were working in a stone quarry in Wuyan area of Pampore died after they came under falling stones.
“The labourers were quarrying using a rock breaker. Huge rocks slid from an upper area and fell over them,” locals said.
The police officer told Kashmir Reader that after receiving information about the incident they rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies with the help of locals.
He added that the bodies were taken to the Public Health Centre in Khrew for medical formalities.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Rafiq Akhoon, a resident of Awdoora Baramulla and Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Karmulla Tral.
Tehsildar Pampore, Ishtiyaq Mohi ud Din told Kashmir Reader that yesterday he along with district mineral officer Pulwama carried out a surprise visit of the area and seized four tippers.
He also said that the incident will be probed after registering a formal first information report.
