KPV protest death of two youth, seek impartial probe

SRINAGAR: Kashmiri Pandit Volunteers (KPF) on Saturday organizsed a protest demonstration in Gangyal against the District Administration Jammu demanding justice for the families of the two young members of the internally displaced Kashmiri Pandit community who became victims to the apathetic and irresponsible act of the District Administration Jammu. Both the victims of the District Administration were made to wear PPE kits and were asked to push the ambulance which got stuck on the banks of the river Tawi. Both the young and innocent victims lost their lives due to dehydration as they were packed in PPE kits by administration for the entire day under the blazing heat while running helter-skelter in search of a crematory ground to cremate their relative. They weren’t even offered water by the personnel present. The officials accompanying the deceased covid-19 patient ran away fromthe spot leaving behind his body along with three of his attendant relatives who fainted, consequent to which two of them died on the spot and the third one, the son of the deceased was later shifted to emergency ward of GMC Jammu in critical condition. It is the matter of shame for the entire administration to have not made designated crematory spaces for patients dying due to Covid-19.
The family members of the deceased too participated in the protest led by Vikram Koul of KPV. More than 300 people participated comprising men, women and children. KPV has called for time bound investigation into the matter so that the officials involved should be booked under the provisions of law.
