Doctor’s body threatens strike if suspension of medics not revoked

Srinagar: Days after suspension of a Dr Nisar Ganie, a Medical Officer at PHC Sadiwara in Anantnag district, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Saturday condemned his suspension and threatened to go for a strike if the said order is not revoked.
President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik while condemning the illogical suspension of Dr Nisar by DC Anantnag on frivolous telephonic complaint and without having a prior enquiry said it has demoralized the Covid-19 warriors across Kashmir hospitals.
Dr Nisar, a physician was on duty on June 16 at PHC Sadiwara, where one attendant had entered OPD Room and asked him to examine his patient, the doctor humbly advised him to wear mask so that he could examine the patient.
However, instead of bringing the patient to the hospital, the attendant telephonically called DC Anantnag with a complaint that the doctor refused to examine his patient. The DC without holding prior enquiry ordered the suspension of said doctor.
The doctor’s body said the said doctor now suspended had been relentlessly working during the Covid-19 crisis and his suspension with nay enquiry is unacceptable.
The DAK president said that the suspension order has sent ripples across the health sector and it is against the supreme court rulings.
Notably, the District Administration earlier ordered wearing of mask at public mandatory but it is unfortunate that DC is contradicting his own order by suspending the doctor.
DAK urged Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, PK Pole to look into the matter and revoke the suspension of the said Doctor.
“Otherwise doctors across Kashmir will be forced to go on strike barring emergency and causality services the responsibility of which would be on the government,” it said.
