Cop injured in accidental fire at Gupkar

Srinagar: A policeman of special security wing, SSG was injured in an accidental fire when his service rifle went off accidentally, while he was cleaning it, in high-security Gupkar area of Srinagar on Monday morning.

According to CNS, the incident occurred on Monday morning when a policeman from SSG wing, identified as Bilal Ahmed Rather from Mirgund area of Pattan in Baramulla district, posted in the area was cleaning his service rifle and it accidentally went off and the bullet coming out of the rifle hit the cop in his leg.

Confirming the incident, a police official said, “Cop posted with SSG wing namely Bilal Ahmad Rather sustained bullet wound in his leg. The incident occurred while he was cleaning his service rifle at SSG Line in Gupkar.” The injured cop was immediately shifted to SMHS hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. In regard of the incident a case was registered in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station and further investigations were taken up.
