Farooq Abdullah to personally write to opposition leaders
Parliament session likely to commence from July 20
Srinagar: The National Conference on Wednesday said it will formally invite all INDIA bloc constituents and other political parties to its protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The decision to hold the protest on the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament was taken after National Conference MLAs and independents supporting the Omar Abdullah government met last month.
“Senior party leaders met NC president Farooq Abdullah at his Gupkar residence to review and finalise the arrangements for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” an NC spokesperson said.
“During the meeting, it was resolved that all constituent parties of the INDIA bloc, along with other political parties in Jammu and Kashmir, would be formally invited to participate in the protest.
“It was also decided to send invitations to the leaders of parties that are not part of the INDIA bloc but are also not aligned with the NDA,” he said.
The spokesperson said formal invitation letters will be sent to all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir, with party president Farooq Abdullah personally writing to their respective leaders.
The Monsoon session of Parliament is likely to commence from July 20 and is expected to go on for three weeks, officials had said on Tuesday.
