Dr Samia appointed in-charge principal GMC Srinagar

Srinagar: The government on Friday appointed senior physician Dr Samia Rashid as interim principal of the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.
Rashid will replace Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, who is superannuating on February 29.
“Consequent, upon the retirement on superannuation of Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Shah on February 29, 2020, and in the interest of administration and patient-care, Dr Samia Rashid, Professor and Head Department of Medicine, GMC Srinagar shall look after the charge of the post of Principal GMC Srinagar from March 1, in addition to her own duties till the post is filled on a regular basis,” reads an order issued by Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department on Friday.
Dr Samia has been appointed as the in-charge principal of GMC Srinagar for the second time as she had served on the post earlier also before the High court rejected her appointment in May 2019.
