Not getting home delivery since Aug, say LPG consumers

SRINAGAR: LPG consumers from various areas of the Kashmir say they are not getting home delivery since August when the government abolished Article 370 which was followed by lockdown and shutdown.
They said distributors stopped home delivery without any reason.
The gases consumers of Indane oil, Hindustan petroleum and Bharat Petroleum said that they are collecting LPG cylinders from distributors.
Fayaz Ahmad, a resident of Srinagar city said that after the August 4 the home delivers of LPG cylinders was stopped by gas distributors.
“I have collected the gas cylinders from distributors centre. If the distributors will provide home delivery, consumers don’t have to visit their office,’’ he said.
Sales manager of Indian oil Parveez Ahmad said that they are providing home delivery on time. “When the highway is closed, the demand of gas cylinders in the valley surges which halts the home delivery system,” he said.
He said that home delivery was affected in the month of December and January due to the shortage of cylinders.
“We have already started home delivery from February 1,” he added.
Executives of gas companies said that closure of highway is the main reason of shortage of cylinders in the markets especially in winters.
“During the winters, highway remains closed, which hits the supply,” Jagmohan Singh Raina, agas dealer from Srinagar said.
Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs (FCS&CA) department, Bashir Ahmad Khan told Kashmir Reader that they have given time to gas agencies to carry out home delivery on time.
“From February 11, the home delivery will be started again in Kashmir valley,” Khan said.
