BARAMULLA: Kashmir’s own Lower Jhelum Hydro electric power Project (LJHP) is generating double electricity instead of previous yearsowing to improvement in weather and melting of snow, an official said.
Official sources of the LJHP project said that the project generates 30 to 40-megawatt electricity in the months of November and December while 40 to 50 megawatt electricity in the month of January in previous years.“However, the project is generating double electricity from November 2019 and it is increasing day by day,” he said.
Executive Engineer LJHP generation Er Nazir Ahmad Wani said that they are generating 90 to 100-megawatt electricity from past few days and it is increasing day by day. He said the water supply in river Jhelum and in other local streams has surged from November which has led to generation of double electricity instead of previous years.
He added they can increase its generation as the snow will start melting in coming weeks.
