Lethpora residents demand relocation of high tension wire

PAMPORE: The residents of Lethpora village in Awantipora demand relocation of high tension line passing through residential area- which they said is threatening their lives.
Manzoor Ahmad, a local said high tension supply line was laid through Lethpora village many years ago. He said that the department used wooden poles to erect the supply line.
“Once the line was erected, PDD didn’t carry maintenance resulting in decomposition of line,” he said, adding that partial decomposition resulted damage to wooden poles.
The residents said that since the line passes through the residential area near FCI factory, it can fall and poses a threat to lives of villagers.
They claimed that officials of PDD were approached by them many times, but their pleas fell to deaf ears.
“We wrote dozens of letters to officials for relocating the line, but till date nothing was done,” a resident said.
The residents appealed to authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps to avoid anymishap.
Executive Engineer STD Pulwama, Abdul Rashid told Kashmir Reader that they held meeting with higher authorities to find a solution to this issue.
“If people suggest any alternative route and provide land, the department has no objection in relocating the line,” he said.
