SRINAGAR: Ahead of the Republic Day, security has been beefed up in the Valley to prevent any attack aimed at disrupting the functions.
Multi-tier deployment of forces has been laid at the Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium where the main function is scheduled to be held in Srinagar.
In the city centre Lal chowk, several checkpoints were laid for checking vehicles. Policemen were seen frisking commuters and searching their vehicles in Srinagar.
Security was also tightened at all entry and exit points to the city.
The road along the SK Stadium has been fortified with forces deployed all along to prevent any incident.
Elsewhere in the Valley, at district headquarters, the security has also been tightened.
