MeT predicts snow today; Day temperature to decrease, says Lotus

SRINAGAR: The meteorological department predicted another spell of light snowfall in the Valley starting Friday evening.
Director metrological department Sonum Lotus told Kashmir Reader that snow is expected to start from Friday evening and continue throughout Saturday.
On January 26, weather is likely going to remain dry, he said.
However on January 28 and 29, there are chances of snowfall again.
According to him, day temperature is going to drop further resulting in cold. But mercury is going to seen a slight rise in night.
He said that the temperature is going to fluctuate in coming days.
Lotus advised intending travellers to check the status of weather before starting their travel on Srinagar-Jammu highway. The mountainous highway frequently shuts due to snow and rains.
Meanwhile, traffic will be allowed to ply from Srinagar to Jammu today subject to fair weather conditions.
The day temperature, meanwhile, is Srinagar was recorded at 6.4 degree Celsius while night temperature stood at minus 6.1 degrees Celsius. At Qazigund the recorded day temperature was 7.7 while night temperature was minus 8.2.
Pahalgam maximum temperature was 4.4 degree Celsius and night temperature was minus 13.4, Kupwara day temperature was 4.8 degree Celsius while night temperature was recorded at minus 9.6 degree Celsius.
