Naqvi meets vendors, traders at Lal Chowk

SRINAGAR: Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday visited Srinagar’s commercial hub Lal Chowk and interacted with traders and vendors.
“The people have a lot of confidence, there is a positive atmosphere and we are here to go to the people and spread this positivity among other people too by communicating with them. We are working to create a strong environment of change,” Naqvi told reporters here.
He was accompanied by Advisor to Lt Governor Farooq Khan and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary.
Naqvi interacted with street vendors at Makkah markets and some shopkeepers outside and asked them about issues, if any, in smooth conduct of their business, an official handout said.
Earlier, authorities had sealed the road from Regal Chowk to the Clock Tower in Lal Chowk for Naqvi’s visit.
All traffic was diverted to other roads, causing inconvenience to the people
The minister arrived in Srinagar on Monday as part of the government of India’s outreach programme in Jammu and Kashmir. Several delegations met him and apprised him about their demands especially safeguarding of jobs and land rights for locals. He assured them that all their genuine demands will be addressed at earliest.
