SRINAGAR: Doodh Ganga nallah has been blocked by waterlogging at various points due to recent snowfall – with locals saying that it has caused inconvenience to them.
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is cleaning the Doodh Ganga Nallah at various places which have been blocked by recent snowfall.
Imtiyaz Ahmad, one of the local said that during the old days, people were using the water of nallah for drinking and cooking purposes, but now it is polluted.
He said that people are throwing solid waste in it.
Altaf Hussain, Executive engineer of Srinagar drainage division of SMC said that they have already cleaning the Doodh Ganga nallah at various spots.
“After the snow melts, waterlogging takes places at various places and people are throwing solid waste in nallah,” He said
He added that the contractor has used Shikara to clean the nallah at various points. “Due to the recent snowfall, the work was stopped for few days and the work have been started again in nallah.”
