A truck driver was killed by unidentified gunmen in Sirnoo village of Shirmal area in Shopian district on Monday evening and his truck was also set
on fire.
Police sources identified the driver as Mohammad Sharif Khan, hailing from Alwar Rajasthan.
Sources said that suspected militants appeared in an orchard in Sirnoo where a truck was being loaded with apples at around 7.30pm.
The assailants fired indiscriminately killing the driver on spot while the conductor escaped with injuries.
After the firing, the assailants set fire to the truck bearing number RJ14 -7759.
Khan had received two bullets, one in the face, one in chest, and had 40 percent burn injuries, a source said.
