Maintain pressure on militants in Kishtwar: DGP to officers

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh Saturday chaired a joint officers meeting at Kishtwar to review the law and order and security situation in the district.
“He was briefed about security scenario and measures taken for maintaining peace and order in the district. DGP complimented and appreciated the efforts of J&K Police and other security agencies
for maintaining law and order in the district. He said that it was due to close coordination and synergy among the security forces that recently success was achieved against the militants,” the
statement said.
Singh said, “We are dealing with a hostile neighbour and we will have to foil its attempts. There are reports of infiltration from Pakistan, and now recent encounters also prove that some militants have
sneaked in.”
He urged the officers to maintain pressure on militants and exhorted all ranks to remain vigilant regarding law and order and security of the area.
Singh said that the home minister Amit Shah and Governor Satya Pal Malik have complimented the Police and security forces for their success against militants in Doda-Kishtwar range.
He impressed for well organised and pro-active operations against the militants particularly in upper reaches to increase the sense of security among the masses. He also emphasised for civic action
programs to be conducted at large scale to earn more and more public trust.
“The DGP also met with the delegations of Muslims and Hindu communities of Kishtwar. The members of the delegation promised to work for the communal harmony, peace and amity. The DGP
assured that their issues will be addressed. He thanked them for their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood in the area. The delegation complimented the JK Police and
security forces for the achievements and services to the people particularly of Kishtwar district,” the statement said.
The DGP also addressed a joint darbar of Police, CRPF, SSB, RAF and ITBP officers and personnel. He said that it was important to meet officers and personnel particularly in far flung areas to know
their needs for timely and adequate response. He impressed upon police and forces to make the Kishtwar militancy free by neutralising the residual militancy.
He also urged the DC Kishtwar, Angrez Singh to look into issue of black topping of road inside DPL and water supply.
He directed officers to look after the needs of personnel in view of approaching winter.
