Srinagar: Awami Ithad Party chief and MLA Langate, Er Rasheed was today detained in his home constituency after he held a sit-in outside the SP office in Handwara.
According to a statement issued by the party spokesman, Police used force to foil a peaceful sit-in by Er Rasheed outside SP office Handwara, who was seeking release of two innocent youth namely Irshad Ahmad Parra resident of Badrahand Ab. Rasheed resident of Ganapora Langate.
“Protesters led by Er. Rasheed gathered outside SP office Handwara and started anti-PSA and anti-Police slogans and were seeking immediate and unconditional release of two youth. However SP Handwara came out of his office along with a contingent of police and used force to disperse the mob resulting in sustaining of injuries to a number of protesters,” the statement said.
The statement added that Er Rasheed was thrashed, abused, humiliated and dragged to police station Handwara.
