Er. Rasheed detained in Handwara

Srinagar: Awami Ithad Party chief and MLA Langate, Er Rasheed was today detained by the police after he held a sit-in outside the SP office in Handwara.

According to a statement issued by the party spokesman, Police used force to foil a peaceful sit-in by Er Rasheed outside SP office Handwara, who was seeking the release of two youth from his home constituency-Irshad Ahmad Parra resident of Badrah and  Ab. Rasheed resident of Ganapora Langate.

“Protesters led by Er. Rasheed gathered outside SP office Handwara and started anti-PSA and anti-Police slogans and were seeking the immediate and unconditional release of two youth. However SP Handwara came out of his office along with a contingent of police and used force to disperse the mob resulting in sustaining of injuries to a number of protesters,” the statement said.

 The statement added that Er Rasheed was thrashed, abused, humiliated and dragged to police station Handwara.
