Kashmir Basketball League: El Calor, SSM, Basket Brawlers emerge victorious

Srinagar: El Calor in Girls Category, SSM in Senior-Boys Category and Basket Brawlers in Boys U-17 Category emerged winners in Kashmir Basketball League that continued for four days in Srinagar.

The League, organized by Danish Pandit, Wasiq Ashraf and Labeeb Bhat, was sponsored by Arco Cements and K Cafe.

Around 20 teams participated in both Boys and Girls Category. The League continued for four days which started from January 19 and ended on 22 January. The League was held in the premises of Kothibagh Higher Secondary School.

In Senior-Boys Category, Syed Mir Waleed was awarded as most valuable player (MVP) of the Tournament and in U17 Boys Category, Adeeb Wani received the MVP. In Girls Category Useeba Bashir was awarded as the MVP of the Tournament.

Superintended of Police, Dawood Mir was the Chief Guest during the closing ceremony of the tournament.

While addressing the ceremony, Dawood expressed his delight saying “I am highly overwhelmed and happy to see such a great participation in the League and this shows that how committed you all are to the sport.”

He also congratulated the winners and appreciated efforts of the organizers.

“I congratulate all the winners for their victory and also congratulate the organizers for such a successful tournament,” he said.

Your efforts are highly appreciated and hope to see you again organizing such tournaments, he added.

“The main aim in organizing such tournaments is to promote basketball in the valley and provide a platform to the players,” said Danish Pandit, one of the organizers of the League.

Pandit also thanked all the sponsors for their unrelenting cooperation in organizing the League, “We are highly thankful to the sponsors Arco Cements and K Cafe for their support and cooperation. Without their support this League would have not been possible”, he said

“Such tournaments provide us opportunities to hone our skills and boost our morale and encouragement,” said Adeeb Wani, who are declared as MVP in U-17 Boys Category.
