Srinagar: Panic gripped at Jawahar Nagar locality in Srinagar city after fire broke out in Yateem Foundation “Baitul Hilal” Monday late evening. Soon a number of fire tenders reached the spot and extinguished the flames.
A police officer said that the fire broke out upper side of the building belonged to Yateem Foundation Baitul Hilal and has been brought under control with active assistance by fire service department.
“In the incident two houses and the Yateem Foundation got partially damaged and the cause of fire is being ascertained”, he said.
During the fire, all the persons including the students were evacuated to safety, he said.
The locals, meanwhile, hailed the fire service staff and local police for prompt action, saying it curtailed the panic that had set in soon after the fire broke out. (GNS)
