Militants lob grenade on police station Baramulla ; cop injured

Srinagar: A policeman sustained splinter injuries in a grenade attack at police station in Baramulla area of north Kashmir on Monday evening.

A police official said that the militants attacked the police station near Azad Gung area of the old town with a grenade at around 6:40 pm resulting in injuries to a policeman who was performing his duty as sentry of the police station.

In retaliation, cops fired several aerial rounds; however, there was no immediate report of any causality so far.

Soon after the incident, the whole area has been cordoned off with the help of additional reinforcement to nab the attackers, the officer said.

Meanwhile, police has registered a case and started further investigation in this regard, the officer added.

The grenade attack followed by the firing in retaliation by the cops created panic in the area.(GNS)
