MLA Langate leads protest against establishing Army Camp at Homeshalibugh

Anantnag: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president, Engineer Abdul Rashid Sheikh along with scores of his supporters Friday staged protest against establishing of an Army Camp at Shamsipora Homshalibugh.

Led by Er Rasheed, the protesters including party’s senior leader, Zeeshan Pandit assembled outside DC office Anantnag to protest against the establishing of an Army Camp at Shamsipora Homshalibugh in Anantnag district.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of protest, Er Rasheed as per the statement issued here said that on one side Govt is claiming to minimize the role of Army in dealing with law and order issues but on the other side new camps are being established and that too without following proper procedures.

“Though our battle is for resolution of Kashmir dispute but security agencies can not be allowed to have a jungle Raj and do what they want. Later district administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag held negotiations with the protestors,” he said.

The statement issued here said that after talking to the higher authorities, Deputy Commissioner (DC) communicated that the work on establishing camp will be stopped right away and no camp will be established in Shamsipora village to address the concerns of inhabitants. Following the assurance sit in was called off.

After assurance from the administration, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
