One kg heroin seized, two arrested

 

Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two alleged drug smugglers along with one Kilogram of combined quantity of Heroin and brown sugar in Sheeri on Srinagar-Baramulla highway today.

Initial investigations revealed that the consignment had come from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir through Teetwal , near the line of control, a police spokesman said.

He identified the alleged smugglers as Mudasir Ahmad War and Mohammad Amin Sheikh, both residents of Wahipora-Handwara.

Police has registered a case under the provisions of Narcotics drugs and Psychotropic substance act against the accused.

The investigation of the case is underway and more arrests are likely.

Jammu and Kashmir police has launched a vigorous drive against drug paddlers and arrested several persons involved in the crime, especially from Baramulla and Pattan areas.

The drive against the smugglers will continue with more intensity to eradicate this menace, the spokesman said. (Kashmir Wire)
