Pahalgam: Caual labourers of Pahalgam Municipal Committee (MC) in district Anantnag held a protest demonstration outside the MC here this afternoon in support of their demands including releasing pending salaries and regularization of their services.
Scores of the casual labourers from pahalgam, Aishmuqam and other adjoining areas assembled outside MC Pahalgam and raised anti-goverment slogans, especially regularization policy.
“A number of committees were formed by the State Government to resolve our long-pending issues and demands but our file is still gathering dust in their offices,” said one of the protester.
He said it is a sheer “injustice” with the casual workers. “some of us haven’t even received the wages for the last year or more. The wages should be paid at the earliest,” he added.

The employees said that they used to get shares earlier from the Pahalgam Developmental Authorities, which was a kind of relief to mitigate their sufferings but now we are just starving and authorities have turned blind eye to our cries.
On one side government raises slogans of “swach baharat Abhiyaan” (Cleanliness campaign) and on other, they don’t provide wages to those who keep alive this slogan, said Rayees one of the protester. ( Kashmir Wire)
