Capacity building prog on Agri held at B’pora

Bandipora: A capacity building cum awareness programme was held here today in which  a large number of progressive farmers participated.

The programme  held under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bandipora.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC urged upon the farmers to make the best use of knowledge they have gained during the awareness programme. He also directed the concerned to organize such awareness programmes in every zone especially in rural areas of the district so that more farmers could take advantage of the same.

On this occasion, the experts and subject matter specialists delivered lectures on the development of apiculture, mushroom, soil health and general farming.

Chief Agriculture Officer on the occasion informed that as many as 16 different schemes are under operation in the district to boost the agriculture sector of which over Rs 21 lakh have been spent till ending September, this year. He added under these schemes various agricultural equipments like power tiller, irrigation pump sets, brush cutters, tractors, poly greenhouses, motorized /manual carts, tube Wells/bore wells, bee colonies/bee hives, sprayers, honey extractors, water harvesting tanks, seed storage bins and other required thing are being provided to the farmers on subsidized rates.

Sub-divisional agriculture Officer Bandipora gave a welcome address and also thanked the farmers for participating in the program.

An interactive session was also held on the occasion to clear the concept of farmers regarding adopting of new and scientific farming methods.
