Amid shutdown, forces ‘vandalize’ households in Tral village

Pulwama: Intense clashes and protests erupted  in Wagad area of south Kashmir’s Tral sub district on Monday after forces allegedly thrashed locals and vandalized the public property in the area.

Locals alleged that the forces allegedly thrashed and vandalized property worth lakhs in many residential houses including window panes of a local Masjid.

Locals further added that they damaged windowpanes of scores of vehicles, arrested and thrashed several youth after they protested against the forces action.

Eyewitnesses said that soon after the alleged vandalisation, hundreds of people from Wagad village and its adjacent areas started protesting against the alleged excesses of forces.

Pertinently, on Sunday forces thrashed many locals including old aged father of local Hizb militant Mushtaq Ahmed Chopan due to which shutdown was observed in Tral sub district.

Meanwhile, all business establishments and schools remained closed while the public transport too remained off the roads.

A senior police official told Kashmir Vision that he will look into the matter.

He added that people should not take law into their hands by blocking roads.
