Teenager injured as forces open fire in Nowgam

 Srinagar: A 16-year-old youth sustained bullet wounds after paramilitary CRPF allegedly opened fire on protesters in Nowgam area of Srinagar City on Saturday.

Official sources said that a scores of youth were protesting near Railway Station in Machow area of Nowgam against growing incidents of braid-chopping in Kashmir Valley.

The youth according to sources pelted stones on paramilitary CRPF. The forces used tear smoke shells and fired few rounds to disperse them.

In the incident a youth namely Arsalan of Kralpora area of Chadoora received bullet below his shoulder on left side, they said.

Arsalan was immediately shifted to nearby Chittergam hospital where from he was removed to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment, they said.

However, sources said that the condition of the teenager is said to be critical.
