2 Air Force commandos, 2 militants killed in Hajin shootout

Srinagar: Two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and two Air Force commandos were killed in a shootout in Hajin area of Bandipora district on Wednesday, police said.

According to the reports, the joint parties of 13 RR of army and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police were laying siege to Rakh area of Hajin Wednesday militants fired upon them, triggering a gunfight.

The exchnage of fire led to injuries to three personnel of Garuda Commando Force. “Two of them succumbed later,” sources said.

The deceased commandos have been identified as Cpl Neelesh Nayan and Sgt Milind Khabar. The commandos were operating with the army for operational experience and training.

Meanwhile the slain militants have been identified as Abu Bakr @ Ali Baba and Nasrullah Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir, resident of Hajin. Both belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit, police said.
