Srinagar Airport shuts temporarily due to ongoing encounter: CRPF

Srinagar Airport has been shut due to ongoing encounter, CRPF officials said.

According to the CRPF officials, there will be no flight operation till security clearance.

The passengers who were waiting near the airport gate have been taken inside the airport buildings. Two morning flights were cancelled by the authorities. 

However AAI Director at Srinagar Aiport said that the flights may be resumed in the afternoon. 

Earlier, suspected Fidayeen militants attacked a Border Security Force (BSF) camp near Srinagar airport in Humhama area of Budgam district in central Kashmir on Tuesday morning.

According to the reports, one militant dead was killed and four BSF soldiers were injured in the attack. Witness said that they dozens of blast were heard near the attack site. Meanwhile, the attack took place on BSF 182 battalion near Srinagar Airport.
