Continuing its drive against drug menace, Anantnag police arrested a drug smuggler and recovered poppy straw from his possession.

Acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Station Bijbehara headed SHO Bijbehara under the supervision of SDPO Bijbehara laid a Naka at Padshahi Bagh Bijbehara. During Naka checking, a silver color Santro car with out  number plate  driven by Aaqib Ahmad Mantoo son of Moammad Ayoub Mantoo resident of Waghama was intercepted.

During searches, 30 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized on spot.

In this regard, a case was registered in and investigation has been taken up.
