Kashmiri businessman found dead at his room in Manali

 

A businessman from central Kashmir’s Budgam district was found dead at his rented room at the tourist resort of Manali in Himachal Pradesh on Friday evening, police and family of the youth said.

21-year-old Muneeb Hassan Mir, son of Nisar Ahmad Mir of Wadatpora village of Budgam was found hanging inside his rented room at Bhajogi area of Manali by his colleagues yesterday, official sources said.

Mir, sources said, was immediately rushed to nearby hospital by his colleagues where doctors declared him brought as dead on arrival.

Muneeb’s death has plunged his native village in mourning. His father Nissar Ahmad told a local news gathering agency that the news of Muneeb’s death has shattered the family.

He said his son had promised him to come home on Monday to attend Muharram.

“Just a few days back, I spoke to him. He sounded perfectly fine. I don’t believe he has committed suicide, as claims are being made,” Ahmad said.

Muneeb, he said had left for Manali, Shimla on April 20 this year for business activities.

“At this point of time I can’t say anything”, he said.

SHO Budgam Mohammad Rafiq Shah said that the police have taken up the matter with their counterparts in Manali Shimla.

“Apparently, it seems a case of suicide,” Mir added.

Meanwhile, an official at the Manali police station said that a case under section 174 CrPc has been registered and investigations set in to motion.

“The cause of death will be ascertained once post mortem report will come”, the officer added.
