Chief Electoral Officer, J&K Shaleen Kabra Wednesday chaired a meeting with representatives of Political Parties in which representatives of Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharaitya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (M), Nationalist Congress Party, Indian National Congress, J&K National Conference, J&K National Panthers Party and J&K Peoples Democratic Party participated.
The CEO briefed the meeting that Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls and January 1, 2018 has been fixed as the qualifying date in the State which is commencing from October 3, 2017.
He also informed about the initiatives taken by the ECI which include introduction of IT applications regarding the online redressal of public grievances, launch of ERONET; a Unified National Electoral Roll Programme (UNERP), and National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) for online registration of voters all over the country.
