Will allow JRL to court arrest in Delhi, says police

Speculations were rife that authorities might prevent Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) to visit New Delhi to court arrest before National Investigation Agency, however, the police did an anti climax by announcing that the leaders will be allowed to proceed to Delhi.

“We will allow them to proceed wherever they want to go,” Director General of Police, Dr S P Vaid said.

Hurriyat leadership on Wednesday announced to court arrest at NIA headquarters in New Delhi against NIA raids on leaders and businessmen for allegedly funding and creating unrest in the Valley.

The Hurriyat leadership Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik, had announced to proceed towards NIA headquarters in New Delhi against NIA to hold a protest sit-in and court arrest.

When asked why JKLF chairman was arrested yesterday, IG Kashmir Munir Khan said that he was taken into preventive custody because of the protest call given by them.

“Yasin Malik was taken into preventive custody because of the protest call they had given against the killing of Rohingya Muslims,” IG Kashmir Munir Khan told Kashmir Vision.

He said that they (Police) have no jurisdiction in New Delhi.

“Where ever they want to go, they should. Why should we stop them,” Khan said.
