Sopore gunfight ends, HM commander killed

The gunfight which started earlier today in Reben village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has ended with the killing of a Hizb ul Mujahideen commander on Saturday, police said.

An official said that the operation that began around 3am in the village has ended. “One Hizb militant, identified as Shahid Ahmad Sheikh of Kachloo Rafiabad has been killed,” he said.

According to sources, Sheikh was Kupwara District Commander of the Hizb ul Mujahideen outfit.

Following the killing, a huge protest rally has been taken out from the Reben village.
