‘Terror funding’: NIA seeks 20 days remand of arrested Hurriyat leaders

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday  sought a 20 days remand for all the  seven Hurriyat leaders who  were arrested yesterday on charges  of receiving funds from Pakistan to sponsor ‘terror’ activities and stone-pelting protests in the Kashmir Valley, reports said.

The arrested include Nayeem Khan, Altaf Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid ul Islam, Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah and Bitta Karate. Karate was arrested from Delhi while others were arrested from Srinagar.

They were today produced in Patiala House Court in New Delhi for their alleged involvement in “terror funding case”, reports said.

Pertinently, NIA had initiated a preliminary inquiry (PE) against pro-freedom leaders after Nayeem Khan in a TV sting operation “confessed” that Hurriyat leaders have been receiving funds for “subversive activities” in the Kashmir Valley.
