The tourism traders and Kashmir Tours and Travels operators on Tuesday staged protest against the Anantnag attack that resulted in the killing of seven Amarnath pilgrims on Monday evening.
The protesters holding placards assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and Seven Yatris were killed while 19 others were injured in an attack that took place in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district in the late evening hours on Monday.
“We condemn the barbaric attack and demand an independent probe into the incident,” the protesters said.
The protesters also expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of injured pilgrims.
“Killings are a setback to syncretism culture of Kashmir. Yatris are our guests,” they said.
They said that after the Anantnag attack, travel operators have been receiving distress calls from the potential travelers asking for cancellation of bookings.”We appeal the tourists to stop worrying and come to Kashmir. We will continue exhibiting our hospitality,” they said.
