Forces ransack shops in Shopian village as locals celebrate Pakistan’s win in Champions trophy

Dozens of shops and vehicles in were allegedly damaged in Vehil village of Shopian district after locals burst firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Champions Trophy in England.

According to the sources, Locals celebrated the team’s win by bursting firecrackers at around 11 pm in the night. 

Sources said soon after celebratory firecrackers, forces from nearby camp of Chordurgund village rushed to the village and fired several rounds in air which created panic in the area.

Locals alleged that forces ransacked many shops and damaged windowpanes of houses and glasses of dozens of vehicles.

Shopkeepers alleged that their merchandise was missing after nocturnal raid.

Meanwhile locals in the morning took to streets and staged protests against the alleged ransacking by the government forces.
