IGP Railway reviews security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

Inspector General of Police (GRP J&K), Rajesh Kumar Thursday conducted intensive checking of GRP men deployed at the GRP Railway Police stations, Posts, Halt stations, track and tunnel from Srinagar down to Banihal.

IGP who was accompanied by SSP, Benam Tosh and concerned SDPOs also reviewed security arrangements for the forthcoming Amarnath Ji Yatra 2017 at Railway Station Banihal.

Kumar also held a Darbar at Railway station Banihal at which grievances of the GRP personnel were redressed on the spot.

The IGP Railways checked the deployment and interacted with GRP & RPF officers and officials at PS GRP Banihal, Halt station Hiller, PS GRP Qazigund, PP GRP Sadura, PS GRP Anantnag, PP GRP Bijbehara, PP GRP Panzgam, PS GRP Awantipora, PP GRP Kakapora, PP GRP Pampore and PS GRP Srinagar.

In view of the forthcoming SANJY- 2017, a thorough review of security arrangements at Railway Station Banihal was conducted by the IGP and necessary instructions were imparted on the spot.

The IGP informally inspected GRP Station Banihal, especially “Hawalet”, Kot, Srista, Barrack premises and entry points.

A Darbar of officials/officers of GRP Police Station Banihal was also held at which the IGP GRP J&K patiently listened to the grievances aired by the officers/officials and redressed their genuine demands on the spot.

In his address at Darbar, the IGP GRP J&K advised the officers/officials to remain extra vigilant in the prevailing security scenario, especially during forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra- 2017.

He further advised the nafri to stay away from indulging in criminal activities like drugs- smuggling and to put in earnest efforts to generate actionable information about ANEs, and smuggler’s movements.

Those who would exhibit dedication and devotion to duties shall be suitably rewarded whereas those who shirk work and commit dereliction of duties shall be punished departmentally under rules, the IGP reiterated.
