Why can’t JK CM discuss lifting of beef ban in Assembly: Er. Rasheed

Welcoming the beef festival organized in Kerala by various organizations to protest Centre’s ban on sale of cattle for slaughtering, AIP supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed asked Jammu and Kashmir government to revoke the ban on eating beef in the state.

Er. Rasheed said, “While in many states where Muslims are in minority, there exists no ban on beef. The government could not impose ban on beef in Kerala and North East. However, it is shameful that with Jammu and Kashmir Assembly having two third members belonging to the Muslim community cannot even discuss revoking the ban on beef.

“The bill that sought revoking of ban on beef was thrown into the dustbin and no discussion was allowed. This is ample proof to conclude that what people can dare to do in Kerala and elsewhere, Kashmiris cannot even dream of that.

“It is strange that a Muslim minority state like Kerala can hold beef festival but Muslim dominated state of Jammu and Kashmir cannot even discuss the issue in the assembly.”

Er. Rasheed asked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to take cue from the Kerala government that has defied Modi government’s order that violates fundamental rights of citizens or she must confess that nothing is in her hands and she will compromise the religious rights of the people of the state to continue enjoying power.

Meanwhile, he asked the police administration to reveal the identity of two unknown persons who were killed in Uri by the forces. He said, “Reports suggest that the two killed in Uri are militants but that is not the fact.

They were elderly aged persons and burying them in the darkness of the night has given rise to some vital questions which need to be answered.”
