Court issues arrest warrant against ACR Baramulla

A local court in Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has issued an arrest warrant against Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Baramulla for failing to appear before the court on May 19.

The court directed the Uri police to arrest him and produce him before the court on Jun 16, 2017.

The court orders in possession of Kashmir Vision reads: “The Uri police is directed to arrest the ACR Baramulla and present him in the court of sub-judge Uri by Jun 16. If the accused is paying the fine of Rs 5,000 then he should not be arrested.”

Pertinently, in the year 2014, a residential house in Garkote village of Uri got damaged after PMGSY department was constructing a road from Garkote A to Garkote B.

The owner of the house, Bashir Ahmad Shah immediately demanded compensation from the department because of the losses they suffered due to the construction of the road.

On Mar 24, 2014, the PMGSY department asked the Roads and Building (R&B) department and Revenue department Kashmir to assess the loss caused due to the road construction.

In its figure of losses, the R&B showed the figure of Rs 11, 94, 415 while the revenue department came up with the figure of Rs 11, 94, 441.

On Feb 15 2015, the PMGSY department wrote to Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Baramulla to provide the compensation to the victim for the losses he has suffered.

The applicant on Mar 10 this year wrote to Chairman Legal Service Authority Sub-Judge Court Uri to look into the matter as according to him the department failed to compensate him in the period of two years.

A month after, Sub-Judge Uri summoned ACR Baramulla and Executive Engineer PMGSY Uri in this regard but the ACR didn’t turn up for the hearing.

Advocate Toseal Ahmad who is pleading the case of the applicant told Kashmir Vision that an arrest notice has been issued to the ACR Baramulla.

“As the accused has failed to appear before the court on the given date, the court has issued an arrest notice to him,” he said.

Station House Officer Uri, Tabrez Ahmad said, “We are yet to receive any arrest notice from the court.”
