Minister takes stock of healthcare facilities

Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, Saturday visited the Hajin Block of Bandipora district and took stock of healthcare facilities available to people.

Member Parliament, Muzafar Hussain Beigh, MLC Bandipora, Yasir Reshi, Commissioner Secretary Health, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Director Health Services (Kashmir), Director SKIMS and other officials accompanied the Minister during the visit.

The Minister visited the under-construction New Type Primary Health Centre at Nowgam and took stock of the status of its progress. The Minister was informed that an expenditure of about Rs. 1.17 crore has been made on the project against the total cost of Rs. 1.81 crore. The Minister assured the people who had gathered at the site that the construction work on the project which got disrupted during the last year will be revived soon after the preparation of a fresh DPR. She said that the government is committed to upgrade the entire healthcare infrastructure equitably in all areas of the state.

At the Community Health Centre at Sumbal, Asiea held a detailed meeting with the hospital administration and discussed the facilities available in the hospital. The Minister was appraised of the problems faced by patients especially due to lack of ultrasound and digital x-ray diagnostic machines, laparoscope and other facilities at the hospital. The Minister was apprised of the shortage of staff at the hospital. The Minister issued strict instructions to the concerned to ensure the availability of doctors at their allotted times.

The Minster was also appraised of the status of health centers currently under construction at various areas in the district.

On the occasion, MP Muzafar Beigh announced donation of an ambulance each to the NTPHC at Nowagm and CHC at Sumabl.
