Training program at SLRM centre inaugurated

Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, today organized  one day training cum exposure visit of the officers and field functionaries of the department  to First operational  waste to wealth Solid  liquid Resource  management  Center at Sehoura.

Commissioner/ Secretary, Rural Development Department Panchayati Raj, Nirmal Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. Director RDD Kashmir, Gazanfar Ali and other officers of the department also participated in the program.

Speaking on the occasion Ms Sharma said that Solid Liquid Resource Management is a vital step towards keeping our environment clean and use of conventional and organic methods of waste management in this pilot project at Sehoura is successfully helping to generate income. She exhorted upon the officers of Rural Development to take adequate steps to replicate this model in other block also and directed the participating officers to immediately take up 1 gram panchayat per block for taking up SLWM activities.

Later she also took review of the project and interacted with the project staff and experts engaged in the task.

Earlier, a detailed presentation on SLRM activities in the state was given by Project Manager, IWMP, Jammu, Deepak Dubey. The participants were made aware about various strategies and technologies for dealing with waste management effectively.

Executive Engineer REW, Parvaiz Malik appraised the participants regarding various technological options for infrastructure creation for SLRM.

Dr. Anirudh gave a detailed presentation on Liquid Waste Management in Rural Areas.

The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by BDO Bishnah, Nazia Choudhary.
