Centre should initiate talks with Hurriyat, says Soz

Senior Congress leader and former union mister, Prof Saifuddin Soz, on Wednesday, said that the Centre should accept the inability of initiating the dialogue process in Kashmir with the Hurriyat leadership.

He said that as a concerned citizen, “I feel if the Centre decides to initiate the dialogue process with the leaders of, what they call the mainstream parties of Jammu and Kashmir, they may go wrong again. It will be a disastrous move.”

“I don’t think mainstream parties would come forward to participate in such a dialogue. I wish PM Modi does not fall into the trap of this ill-conceived proposal. At this point of time, the Modi government should initiate a dialogue with the Hurriyat leadership, at the earliest, as this process alone would yield meaningful results.”
