PDP-BJP combine neglecting remote areas, alleges NC

National Conference District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen on Tuesday slammed PDP-BJP coalition for total neglect of remote areas, saying that due to governance deficit the peoples’ miseries are accumulating with each passing day.

“Not only the remote areas are neglected but the facilities sanctioned for these places are shifted on political considerations,” Shaheen said while addressing workers at Ukhral.

He expressed concern over proposed shifting of Model Higher Secondary School under RMSA from Ramsoo to Gool purely on political exigencies.

He said this school had been sanctioned two years ago. He also expressed surprise over the silence of local MLA and said that he has not been able to protect the rights of the people of Ramsoo.

Shaheen cautioned against the shifting of the school, saying any such move will be strongly resisted and if need be the people will take to streets and the responsibility shall lie with the government.

He said that NC will not allow politicization of education, adding that if Gool needs such a facility the government should sanction another model school for the area. “Why should Ramsoo be deprived of the facility”, he wondered.

Shaheen also highlighted the various other problems confronted to people in Ukhral and urged the administration to redress these earnestly. These include upkeep of utility services, ensuring power and drinking water besides making available rations at CAPD outlets. He said the present coalition government has failed on all fronts, as a result of which the developmental activities have come to standstill.

On the occasion several PDP activists joined National Conference who include Abdul Majid Kumhar, Gulam Mohammad Sheikh, Nazir Ahmed Katoch, Irfan Runyal, Mohammad Qasim, Mohammad Rafiq Malik and others.

Shaheen welcomed them in the party fold, hoping that this will further strengthen the party at grass roots level.
