NC workers to face assault, attempt to murder charges

Five National Conference (NC) workers have been charged for attempt to murder and criminal assault on female voters. The workers had allegedly carried murderous assault on voters on the day of polling for Srinagar parliamentary seat. Sources said that Police have registered case vide FIR number 24/2017 U/S 307, 341 against five NC workers at police station Kothibagh here for assaulting a voter and his aunt for refusing their offer to cast votes in favor of a particular candidate against rupees one thousand. Pertinently, a businessman from Srinagar and his ailing aunt were allegedly roughed up by NC workers at Biscoe School polling booth after they refused to comply with their orders. “After conducting necessary medical examination of the victim, we registered attempt to murder and criminal assault against five people, who are at large since the occurrence of the deadly attack,” a senior police official said. He said that police have also launched a manhunt to arrest all the six accused who are at large after attacking and grievously injuring a common voter.
