SRINAGAR: The doctors at Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) Wednesday successfully performed a ‘revision of total hip replacement surgery’—a complicated medical procedure done for the first time in the department’s history.
An official handout here said a 50-year-old man was operated upon at the JLNM hospital here by a group of medicos including Dr Irshad Tabasum, Dr Najeeb Drabu, Dr H Tandon, Dr Arifa, Dr Muzaffar, Surjeet Singh, and Habibullah.
“It is for the first time that such an advanced set up surgery was successfully performed at JLNM Hospital, the apex hospital of DHSK,” the handout said.
JLNM Hospital has already performed a knee replacement surgery, it said, adding Director Health Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman has appreciated the administrator and staff of the hospital on attaining the feat.
“He emphasised on the team to continue performing advanced surgeries and assured them all logistic support,” it said.
