SC notice on molestation case involving Shabir Khan

Srinagar: The Supreme Court has issued a notice on a petition seeking stay on grant of the anticipatory bail to former Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan, in case of alleged molestation attempt on a lady doctor here.
“Permission to file the special leave petition is granted. Issue notice,” reads an order by a division bench of the apex court comprising Justices Dipak Misra and Vikramajit Sen.
Khan resigned as MoS Health on February 7, a day after police registered a case a case (FIR no. 09/2014) under RPC Sections of 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) based on a complaint by the doctor.
Even as Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar had issued arrested warrant against him, Khan remained in hiding for six days and appeared before the police only after interim bail was granted by the High Court.
