HC asks Academy not to act upon final seniority list

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed government not to act upon final seniority list in J&K Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages till next hearing before it.
Hearing a petition filed by one Mufti Shafiqur Rehman Qasmi, a bench of Justice Hasnain Massodi also issued a notice to the government for filing response to it.
According to Qasmi, he has been placed at a place lower to his juniors in the Department in final seniority list notified vide order an order on January 24 this year.
Qasmi, who is working on Editor’s post, said that the Department has made recommendations and is contemplating promotions on the basis of the final seniority list that according to him does not reflect his and his colleagues’ true seniority.
“In view of the case set up the final seniority list dated (January 24) and recommendations made vide no PS/Secy/AACL/2013-14/293 (one February 10) shall not be acted till next date before the Bench,” the court said and posted the case onApril 29.
In his petition, Qasmi, said that he came to know about the issue through an application filed under Right to Information Act.
The court passed the order after hearing Qasmi’s counsel advocates Advocate Nasir Qadri and Danish Ishtiyaq Mufti.
