TeH flays arrest spree by police

SRINAGAR: Tehreek-i-Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Geelani, Monday condemned the arrest spree started by police in various areas of Kashmir.
In a statement, the TeH spokesman “condemned the arrest and harassment of people by police in Chadoora Budgam, Kakpora Pulwama, and Baramullah.
The TeH spokesman said that police called parties Tehsil President for Chadoora, Mohammad Maqbool Gannai to police station Chadoora where he was detained and shifted him to SOG camp Humhama.
“When his wife went to the Police Station Chadoora to enquire about him, the police personnel present there abused her,” the statement said.
The statement said that Station House Officer of Kakpora has also spread a reign of terror in the area by unnecessarily harassing and intimidating people there.
“Small children are called to police station where they are threatened and intimidated,” the statement said.
The statement also condemned the arrest spree unleashed by police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla town.
“The actions of police, which calls its self guardian of peace and law and order, constitute state terrorism,” the statement said, adding “They should desist from these acts.”
