Solar energy awareness camp held in Kupwara

KUPWARA: The Science and Technology (S&T) Department in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Kupwara Wednesday organized an Exhibition-cum-Awareness Camp on renewable energy at Industrial Training Institute, here.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Abdul Aziz Bhat who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the camp in presence of Assistant Director, Science and Technology, Kupwara, MA Malik.
Principal, Girls Higher Secondary School, Kupwara, Superintendent Industrial Training Institute Kupwara, District Information Officer, staff members and students of Industrial Training Institute were present on the function. The essay competition on the theme ‘’Impact of Renewable Energy on Human Life’’ was also held in which three students were declared as winners and were given prizes by the organizers.
Various solar devices were displayed on this occasion, besides, mobile exhibition van was also displayed for demonstration of solar devices.
The Assistant Director Science & Technology while giving the details of functioning said that the un-electrified far flung areas like Karnah, Keran, Machil areas were electrified through the solar light besides district Hospital, Community Information Centres functioning in the district while remaining health institutions, Community Information centres would be covered under the scheme in near future.
