JAMMU: The Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board officially began the construction of Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan in Jammu, with Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi visiting the site to oversee the commencement and issue instructions for the completion of the project within the stipulated time frame.
This grand mosque, the largest in Jammu, had remained incomplete for years due to mismanagement. The Waqf Board took responsibility for completing the project, and work officially began during the Chairperson’s visit.
“We have decided not to waste our energy on digging into past misappropriation and mismanagement, which wasted years on the construction of this significant prayer centre in Jammu city. Instead, the Board has taken up the construction work, and as per our tradition of the past few years, we will be completing it soon within the stipulated time frame. I personally finalized the plan and instructed the engineering wing to ensure quality work and complete it without delays,” said Dr Darakhshan.
The Waqf Chairperson met eminent residents of the locality and sought their support for the project. Civil society members thanked Dr Andrabi for her initiative and expressed hope that the project will now be completed.
She was accompanied by Administrator Aabid Hussain and the engineering team of the Board.
